How is total compensation calculated?

Total compensation includes base salary, annual equity value (total equity / vesting years), and target bonus. Each factor is weighted based on your priorities, with default weights emphasizing salary (40%), equity (20%), and bonus (10%).

How should I value equity?

Enter the current estimated value of your equity package. For public companies, use current stock price. For startups, use the latest 409A valuation or apply a 50-70% discount to the stated value due to risk and illiquidity.

What if a company doesn't offer equity?

Leave the equity field at $0. The comparator will still calculate a fair comparison by weighting other factors more heavily. Many excellent companies don't offer equity, especially in non-tech industries.

How do I adjust the weights?
